Francesca Diano architect is a design practice based in Italy and the UK.
We are surrounded by architecture and we are an active part of a space:every project is about imagining the optimal arrangement in a space of possibilities and situations. However, design is more than just functional response: everybody deserves beauty, not in the sense of luxury, but as a balance between light, shadow, emotion and time. Every intervention, no matter how small, can change the quality of our life.

Few events can deeply modify our way of living. A huge and unused corridor is flooded by a sculptural volume which enhances the value of the space, giving a new meaning to this otherwise wasted area. The kitchen and the living room become indeed one space which is, however, slightly visually divided by the iconic new volume. In this case, the figure of architecture consists in the meaning of the volumes and in the articulation and balance between empty and crammed spaces: everything else is just decoration.
